I just recently was introduced to this organization and their website from a family therapist who regularly provides guidance and support to Our Military Kids. In the military community, especially those who have dependents living with autism who are in the National Guard, Reserves or who are retired early through the Wounded Warrior program there currently is little to no assistance available to this fine military service members. And that it very unfortunate. Only during times of active duty service do these warriors get access to ECHO and the Autism Demonstration. And those deployments are becoming fewer and farther between.
I encourage you to take a look at this fine organization that works to stand in the gap for an oft forgotten portion of our armed service members and their families. Also, please take a look at Erin Metheny’s latest article on Our Military Kids called, “Autism & Deployment: Help for the Stay-At-Home Parent.” Erin referenced some of the content for her article right here from Pathways In Autism. We are always happy to help out the community in anyway we can.
